You Only Want to Live Longer?

She was old. Frail. The blow of wind kissing her skin would break her bones.

My grandmother worked as a waitress until she was eighty years old. She was fierce. Hard-working. A five-foot bull.

Her life revolved around hamburgers, coffee, and chocolate cake.

Let's not forget smoking. A shit ton of smoking.

That was her diet.

Her fuel.

She can thank her genes for this, as David Sinclair has reported most centenarians have a "bad habit.

Some smoke. Some enjoy a few glasses of wine. Others love sweets.

Genes have a profound impact on how long we live. Genes aside, I want to age feeling good.

I want to age "gracefully" as some might say. I want to hack my genes as much as possible.

How we live should focus on quality over quantity.

I want to be ninety years old, hiking forest trails, chasing my grandchildren in the yard, skiing, and the thousands of things I do now.

Who wants to be miserable, sitting in a rocking chair for 18 hours a day, can barely walk, and watch re-runs of "Friends" all day?

Not me.

That hell on earth.

The goal of life isn't just to live longer; it's to live better

How can we live better, mentally, physically, and emotionally?

It takes work, motivation, and consistency.

You're allowed to have fun. But don't be like this guy.

He said, "I rather eat what I want and live less than eat like a rabbit and live longer." How stupid!

When I hear this, I label it a defeatist mindset. They've given up on life. They accept short term pleasure, which is a manipulation of the mind, for long term growth.

He rather live a shorter life and jeopardize the time he could have spent with his family, the people he loved.

He didn't get to enjoy more time on this beautiful planet because he didn't want to eat vegetables and exercise? What?!?!

To increase the quality of your life, you need to:

  1. Consume the right fuel and feed your mitochondria.

  2. Take care of your body and stress it.

  3. Control your environment.

  4. Manage your mind.

If you want to live longer and increase the time you spend on this planet, you'll have to take the time to invest in yourself.

If not, your final years may come with suffering and pain, which you don't deserve.

Invest in your mind and body today, so your tomorrow is just as bright.
